Training
As part of RUNSYDUNI we are delighted to offer 6 free training sessions on campus commencing Week 3 of Semester 2, 2023 (Tuesdays). Sessions will be every second Tuesday as listed below @ midday and be approx. 45mins in duration. Coach Jimbo (Director of Athletics) has over 30 years’ experience and will be joined by students who are part of the Elite Athlete Program. It is a perfect way to get fit going into the summer months. Hit the registration link and turn up at Oval Number 1 opposite the Arena (look for the RUNSYDUNI flag) @ 12pm midday.

Meet at Oval 1 across from Arena building. Training will take place at St. John’s, so if you are running late and no one is near the RUNSYDUNI flag, make your way to St. John’s, which is behind the Charles Perkins building. - Training/Weather update*:

FAQs
What are the sessions like? They have been designed by an Athletics Australia Level 4 accredited coach who has coached 2 Sydney University Olympians and are tailored to assisting you run a great race based on your current level of fitness & running background
What happens if there is poor weather or rain? All the sessions are on grass so in the event of rain, the oval may be closed and the session cancelled for safety. Refer weather updates above which will be updated prior to each session
Who are the coaches? Our coaching team is led by James ‘Jimbo’ FitzGerald, 3 time Olympic coach of Milly Clark (Marathon) and Jenny Blundell (1500m & 5000m). Our support coaches are all current members of Sydney University Athletics Club and super keen to train you (and have fun)!
Where do we meet? At the RUNSYDUNI flags on Oval No. 1. You will be allocated a group by the Head Coach.
What should I wear? Comfortable clothing and running shoes! Sweat-wicking fabrics are best. Always a good idea to bring a water bottle on hotter days.
Can I join at part way through the term? Yes, but the sooner you commence, the the fitter you will be & the more fun you will have
What if I miss a session? No problem, we will see you at the next session!
Can I bring my bags? Participants are welcome to bring their bags to sessions, our coaches will keep an eye on them but understandably, cannot be held responsible for your private belongings
Can I change before a session or shower after? Yes there are change rooms at Oval No. 1. Alternatively become a member of Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) if you aren’t already and you can shower at either the University Sports & Aquatic Centre or Arena Sports Centre.
